Hunter Thompson Killed in DUI Crash on Old Union Road in Lufkin

Hunter Thompson ID’d as Motorcyclist Killed in Lufkin Crash on Old Union Road

Lufkin, Texas (October 6, 2022) – Authorities have identified the motorcyclist who died Thursday morning in a crash in Lufkin as Hunter Thompson, 24, of Lufkin.

According to Lufkin police, the deadly collision happened at about 5:30 a.m. on Old Union Road.

Lufkin police said Thompson was leaving Great Oaks Apartments to work in a motorcycle when he collided head-on with a GMC pickup driven by Cesar David Del Villar Casillas, 35, of Lufkin.

Thompson was headed inbound, while Casillas was headed outbound. Casillas reportedly crossed the center median and struck Thompson’s motorcycle.

Thompson was pronounced dead at the scene.

Casillas was arrested and taken into custody for intoxication manslaughter.

Further details regarding the collision were immediately provided.

The accident remains under investigation.
