Police Officer Injured in DWI Crash at I-45 and Pleasant Run in Wilmer

Wilmer, Texas – A Wilmer police officer was injured Saturday morning in a DWI crash in Wilmer, according to the deputies.

The crash happened around midnight, April 20, in the area of I-45 and Pleasant Run.

Deputies said a Wilmer police squad car was working a traffic stop when a Toyota crashed into it. The squad car was knocked into traffic and was struck by an 18-wheeler.

The officer in the squad car was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

The Toyota driver was detained and investigated for a potential DWI.

The crash temporarily closed northbound I-45.

The crash remains under investigation.
