Rafe Kalama Arrested in Fatal McLennan County Two-Vehicle Crash on Loop 340 near Marlin Highway

McLennan County, Texas (September 4, 2022) – According to the authorities, a man has been arrested following a two-vehicle crash that left one person dead in July in McLennan County.

Rafe William Kalama, 19, was arrested on September 2 and charged with Manslaughter.

The fatal crash happened around 4:40 a.m., July 30, on Loop 340 Westbound Access Road near Marlin Highway Southbound Access Road.

Authorities said Kalama was driving westbound on East Loop 340 when he crashed into the left passenger’s side of a car driven by 46-year-old James May.

May was pronounced dead at the scene.

Kalama stayed at the scene after the crash. He was arrested on September 2 and booked into the McLennan County Jail with no bond listed.

The crash remains under investigation.
