Van Zandt County, Texas (May 2, 2023) – Authorities have identified the person who died following a collision between a vehicle and motorcycle on Sunday afternoon in Van Zandt County as Raquel Rodriguez, 67, of Lancaster.

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the tragic accident happened at around 12:20 p.m. Sunday, April 30, on SH 64, just east of Canton.

DPS said Kyle Lee Randall, 32, of Royse City, was riding a motorcycle eastbound on SH 64 while a car, driven by Orlando Jaimes, 70, of Lancaster, was facing westbound on the shoulder of SH 64.

Randall was also transported to a Canton-area medical center in an unknown condition.

The Texas Department of Public Safety is investigating the crash.

Common Causes of Automobile Accidents

There are many different reasons why automobile, pedestrian, 18-wheeler, and motorcycle accidents occur, including driver negligence, driver inattention, texting and driving, speeding, fatigue, failure to yield the right of way from a stop sign, or private drive, running a red light, and driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. While the factors listed above are the main causes of most accidents, there may also be other factors involved, which is why it’s important that an investigation be conducted before evidence disappears, especially in cases involving a fatality.  At Joel A. Gordon & Associates, we will act quickly to secure accident scene photos, interview witnesses, obtain police records, and secure other valuable evidence needed to win your case.  Call now for a free consultation.
