Retha Lyles Killed, Joseph White and Anthony Corbello Injured in Nacogdoches County Two-Vehicle Crash on SH 103 near FM 95

Nacogdoches County, Texas (January 6, 2022) – One person was killed, and two others were injured Wednesday morning in a two-vehicle crash in Nacogdoches County, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.

The fatal crash happened around 10:00 a.m., January 5, on State Highway 103 East, near Farm-to-Market Road 95.

DPS said Retha Lyles, 53, of Lufkin, was driving a 2015 Toyota passenger car westbound on the highway while a 2021 Ford pickup and its towed unit were traveling eastbound.

Lyles failed to drive in a single lane, traveled into the eastbound lane, and crashed head-on into the Ford.

Lyles was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Ford driver, Joseph White, 50, of Orange, and passenger Anthony Corbello, 54, of Lake Charles, Louisiana, were taken to Nacogdoches Memorial for treatment.

The DPS is investigating the crash.
