Ricky Stone Killed and Dwayne Benoit Injured in Jefferson County Two-Vehicle Crash on State Highway 73

Jefferson County, Texas (June 20, 2020) – One person was killed, and another was seriously injured Friday morning in a two-vehicle crash in Jefferson County, according to a local news source.

The fatal crash happened around 10:00 a.m. June 19, on SH 73 near Taylor’s Bayou.

DPS said a dump truck was heading eastbound in the inside lane of the highway and was being followed by a 2008 Chevrolet pickup truck.

The dump truck then slowed to turn left into the crossover and was rear-ended by the Chevrolet.

The Chevrolet driver, 39-year-old Ricky Stone of Hamshire, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The dump truck driver, 51-year-old Dwayne Benoit of Orange, was taken to the Medical Center of Southeast Texas with serious injuries.

The crash closed all eastbound lanes on the highway for about three hours.

The DPS troopers are investigating the crash.
