Robert Hurd Killed in Bicycle Accident on U.S. Highway 82 in Crosby County

Robert Hurd ID’d as Bicyclist Killed in Crosby County Crash on U.S. Highway 82

Crosby County, Texas (September 27, 2023) – The Texas Department of Public Safety has identified the bicyclist who died in a traffic crash on Thursday morning in Crosby County as 62-year-old Robert Hurd of Middletown, Connecticut.

The deadly crash happened at about 9:15 a.m. on Thursday, September 21, on U.S. Highway 82.

DPS said Hurd was riding his bicycle eastbound on U.S. Highway 82 when he drifted into the outside lane of travel and was struck by a pickup that was heading eastbound.

Hurd was pronounced dead at the scene.

The 92-year-old driver of the pickup did suffer any injuries.

DPS is investigating the crash.
