Stephaun Fair Killed and Four Injured in NW Harris County Three-Vehicle Crash at Veterans Memorial Drive and Bammel North Houston Road

Harris County, Texas (December 3, 2023) – A teenager was killed and four other people were injured early Saturday morning after a chase ended in a three-vehicle crash in northwest Harris County, according to the police.

The fatal crash happened shortly before 1:00 a.m., December 2, at the intersection of Veterans Memorial Drive and Bammel North Houston Road.

Police said they noticed a 2016 Chevrolet Malibu driving recklessly near Rankin Road and Kuykendahl Road and they tried to stop it but the driver refused. The officers then chased the Malibu and at some point during the pursuit, the suspect turned off their headlights.

When the Malibu arrived at the intersection, it struck a Toyota Camry and lost control, before crashing into a pickup truck.

Three of the four teenagers in the Malibu were taken to the hospital in stable condition.

Another teenager in the Malibu was trapped and was pronounced dead at the scene. He has been identified as Stephaun Fair, 15. He was a sophomore at Klein High School.

One of the other drivers was taken to the hospital in stable condition.

No other injuries were reported.

The Malibu driver was charged with felony murder and evading in a motor vehicle.

The crash remains under investigation.

Common Causes of Automobile Accidents

There are many different reasons why automobile, pedestrian, 18-wheeler, bicycle, and motorcycle accidents occur, including driver negligence, driver inattention, texting and driving, speeding, fatigue, failure to yield the right of way from a stop sign, or private drive, running a red light, and driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. While the factors listed above are the main causes of most accidents, there may also be other factors involved, which is why it’s important that an investigation be conducted before evidence disappears, especially in cases involving a fatality.  At Joel A. Gordon & Associates, we will act quickly to secure accident scene photos, interview witnesses, obtain police records, and secure other valuable evidence needed to win your case.  Call now for a free consultation.
