Robert Standifer Killed in Athens Three-Vehicle Crash on SH 19 near Grand View Drive
Athens, Texas (August 28, 2020) – A 75-year-old man was killed in a three-vehicle crash Friday afternoon north of Athens, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.
The crash happened at about 4:40 p.m., on SH 19 near Grand View Drive.
DPS said Robert Standifer was driving a 2007 Dodge Nitro and was stopped on the highway facing northbound, waiting to turn westbound on Grand View Drive.
The Nitro was then struck by a northbound 2013 Ford Expedition. The impact pushed the Nitro into the southbound lane, where it collided with a 2006 Dodge Ram pickup.
Standifer was pronounced dead at the scene.
The drivers of the Ford and the Dodge were taken to UT Health Athens with non-life-threatening injuries.
The crash remains under investigation.
