1 Killed in Car Crash on Howard Drive in SE Houston

One Killed in SE Houston Multi-Vehicle Crash on Howard Drive near Galveston Road

Houston, Texas (July 5, 2020) – One person was killed Saturday afternoon in a multi-vehicle crash in southeast Houston, according to police.

The accident happened around 1:00 p.m. July 4, in the 8400 block of Howard Drive near Galveston Road.

Police said a Lincoln MKX struck a Honda Civic at a red light at Howard and the Gulf Freeway service road, before fleeing the scene.

According to witnesses, the Lincoln driver was speeding on Howard Drive when he rear-ended a Chevrolet Silverado 1500, which was stopped at a light, pushing it into a GMC Sierra, which was stopped in front of it.

The Lincoln then veered and hit a Honda Pilot in the middle lane.

The Lincoln rolled over in the crash.

The Lincoln driver was taken to the hospital where he later died. A bottle of alcohol was found inside the Lincoln.

An investigation is underway.
