Roberto Luna Pantoja Killed in North Austin Pedestrian Accident on Interstate 35

Austin, Texas (July 17, 2020) – The pedestrian who was fatally hit by a vehicle last week Friday morning in North Austin has been identified as 23-year-old Roberto Luna Pantoja, according to police.

The deadly accident happened around 4:30 a.m. July 10, in the 11800 block of southbound Interstate 35, north of Braker Lane.

Police said Pantoja was attempting to cross the interstate from westbound to eastbound when he was struck by a 2016 Hyundai Elantra that was traveling southbound in the center lane.

Pantoja was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Hyundai driver remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators.

Speed, impairment, weather/road conditions were not factors in the crash.
