Rosalva Dorantes and Eduardo Dorantes Killed, Mary Dorantes Seriously Injured in Three-Vehicle Crash on West U.S. Highway 70 near Sun Road

Hale County, Texas (June 19, 2019) – Two people were killed and one other person was seriously injured Monday afternoon in a three-vehicle crash in Hale County, according to the authorities.

The crash happened on West U.S. Highway 70 near Sun Road.

Authorities said a truck pulling a flatbed semi-trailer was heading eastbound on the highway when the trailer disconnected from the truck, crossed into the westbound lane and hit a passenger car carrying three occupants.

Jaws of Life had to be used to extricate the three occupants. Two of them were airlifted to University Medical Center in Lubbock. The third victim was taken to Covenant Health Plainview.

The driver, Rosalva Dorantes, 53, and a passenger Eduardo Dorantes, 60, were killed in the crash. Mary Dorantes, 18, who was also a passenger in the car, was taken to the hospital in critical condition. The family is from Olton.

Joe Guerrero, 61, of Tulia, was uninjured in the crash.

The crash remains under investigation.
