Roy Pollock, Paul Liebel ID’d as 2 Victims Killed in Decatur Crash on U S. 81/287 

Decatur, Texas (November 3, 2023) – Authorities have identified the two drivers who died following a traffic crash on Thursday morning in Decatur as Roy Pollock, 72, of Buena Vista, Colorado, and Paul Liebel, 65, of Chico.

The deadly crash happened just after 10:00 a.m. Thursday, November 2 on U.S.81/287.

According to the Decatur Police Department, Pollock had checked out of Best Western Hotel and was preparing to exit the parking lot when a Ford F-250 heading northbound on U.S. 81/287 veerd off the roadway and went airborne before landing on the driver side of his vehicle.

Pollock died at the scene. Liebel who was the driver of the Ford F-250 was taken to Wise Health System in Decatur where he later succumbed to his injuries.

Investigators said Liebel may have experience medical episode before the crash.

The crash remains under investigation.
