Ruben Chavez Jr. Killed in El Paso Motorcycle Crash on Lomaland Drive and Gateway East

El Paso, Texas (May 26, 2021) – A man was killed in a motorcycle crash Friday night in El Paso, according to the police.

The deadly accident happened on March 21, in the 8100 block of Gateway East at the intersection of Lomaland Drive.

Police said Jhair Hassim Acosta, 26, was driving a Kia Forte eastbound in the right lane of Gateway East while Ruben Chavez Jr., 36, was stopped at a red light in his motorcycle.

Acosta ran a red light and crashed into the motorcycle.

Chavez Jr. was ejected and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Acosta was taken into custody and has been charged with Intoxication Manslaughter and Possession of a controlled substance.

The police are investigating the crash.
