Scott Christopher Ely Killed in Lubbock Pedestrian Accident on U.S. Highway 84 

Lubbock, Texas (April 14, 2021) – A pedestrian was killed, and a driver was injured early Tuesday morning in a crash in Lubbock near Shallowater, according to a local news source.

The deadly accident happened just before 5:30 a.m., on April 13, on U.S. Highway 84, near County Road 1700.

According to the report, an SUV was traveling westbound in the outside lane of the highway when the driver saw a pedestrian who was walking in the roadway and tried to swerve to avoid hitting the person. The SUV ended up hitting the pedestrian, and the driver lost control and rolled into a ditch.

The pedestrian, 56-year-old Scott Christopher Ely, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The SUV driver was taken to University Medical Center with head and neck injuries.

The DPS is investigating the crash.
