Sergeant Bruce Watson Killed in Pearland Motorcycle Accident

Pearland, Texas (January 3, 2021) – A Harris County Sheriff’s Office sergeant was killed in a motorcycle crash on Saturday in Pearland, according to authorities.

The crash was reported around 2:11 p.m., on January 2.

Authorities said Sergeant Bruce Watson, 51, was on his way home after completing a funeral escort when his motorcycle was struck by an SUV.

Watson was airlifted to Hermann Hospital-Texas Medical Center where he later died. He was a 20-year veteran with the department.

Investigators said the SUV driver was not intoxicated at the time of the crash.

The authorities are investigating the cause of the crash.

Most motorcycle crashes are caused by negligent drivers who don’t keep a proper lookout or fail to yield the right-of-way. Because motorcyclists are vulnerable, their injuries are usually severe, often suffering from road rash, broken bones, brain injuries, amputations, or spinal cord injuries. In some cases the accident results in death.
