Sergeant Injured in DWI Crash on I-10 in El Paso; Pedro Dominguez Arrested

Sergeant Injured in El Paso Two-Vehicle Crash on Interstate 10; Pedro Dominguez Arrested

El Paso, Texas (November 20, 2021) – A sergeant was injured Wednesday night in a DWI crash in El Paso, according to the authorities.

The crash happened around 9:26 p.m., November 24, on Interstate 10 West at milepost 16.

Authorities said a patrol car, a 2019 Ford Taurus, was parked across the two outside lanes of I-10 West behind three Texas Department of Transportation trucks that had their emergency lights on.

Pedro Garcia Dominguez, 59, of Northeast El Paso, was driving a 2011 Chevrolet Silverado westbound on the right side of the interstate when he rear-ended the patrol car.

The sergeant, a 10-year veteran of the department, was taken to Las Palmas Medical Center with minor injuries.

Dominguez showed signs of intoxication and was arrested. He has been charged with driving while intoxicated, was booked into the El Paso County Jail on a $1,000 personal recognizance bond by a judge, and was released from custody.

The authorities are investigating the crash.
