Sergio Vardona Killed, Kolton Smith Injured in Crash on US 67 in Comanche County

Sergio Vardona Killed, Kolton Smith Seriously Injured in Comanche County Two-Vehicle Crash on US 67

Comanche County, Texas – One person was killed and another was seriously injured Friday morning in a two-vehicle crash in Comanche County, according to the Texas DPS.

The fatal crash occurred around 7:45 a.m., December 8, on US Highway 67.

DPS said Sergio Vasquez Vardona, 30, of Brownwood, was driving his Dodge Ram pickup truck eastbound on the highway when he lost control, veered into the westbound lane, and hit the right side of a Ford pickup truck driven by Kolton Ponnie Edward Smith.

Vardona was pronounced dead at the scene.

Smith was taken to Texas Health Hospital in Stephenville with serious injuries.

The weather was clear and the roads were wet at the time of the crash.

The DPS is investigating the crash.
