Servilio L. Placeres Gonzalez and Luis A. Sanchez Killed in Sonora Semi-Truck Crash on Interstate 10

Sonora, Texas (September 11, 2019) – Two people were killed in a traffic collision early Tuesday morning near Sonora, according to the authorities.

The fatal crash happened at about 1:28 a.m. September 10, on Interstate 10 near mile marker 394.

DPS said Servilio L. Placeres Gonzalez, 49, of Houston, was driving a 2009 Volvo truck tractor towing a semi-trailer westbound on the interstate and was catching up with a 1997 Peterbilt, which was also towing a semi-trailer, driven by Luis A. Sanchez, 72, of Sugarland.

Gonzalez then hit Sanchez’s semi-trailer in the outside lane.

The impact caused both vehicles to catch fire.

Both Gonzalez and Sanchez were declared dead at the scene.

DPS said the weather was clear and the roadway was dry at the time of the crash.

The authorities are investigating the crash.
