Severo Muniz Killed, Brandon Rosenthal and Mario Olivas Injured in Odessa Motorcycle Crash on 42nd Street at Preston Smith Road

Odessa, Texas (March 30, 2023) – One person was killed, and two others were injured Tuesday evening in a motorcycle crash in Odessa, according to the police.

The deadly accident happened around 7:45 p.m., March 28, in the area of 42nd Street and Governor Preston Smith Road.

Police said Severo Muniz was riding a Green Kawasaki Ninja eastbound in the 5000 block of E 42nd, along with Brandon Rosenthal, who was riding a Kawasaki Ninja and a Honda CB1000 ridden by Mario Olivas.

A westbound Nissan Altima driven by Griselda Cardenas failed to yield the right of way while making a left-hand turn onto Preston Smith Road and was struck by Muniz and Rosenthal. This caused the Honda CB1000, to also crash.

Muniz was taken to Medical Center Hospital, where he later died. Rosenthal was taken to the hospital with serious injuries. Olivas was treated and released at the scene.

The crash remains under investigation.
