Simon Garcia Killed in NW Harris County Pedestrian Accident on Northwest Freeway

Harris County, Texas – The tow truck driver who was hit and killed by a vehicle Tuesday afternoon in northwest Harris County has been identified as Simon Garcia, according to the authorities.

The deadly accident happened around 3:32 p.m., February 13, on the eastbound entrance ramp of the 15200 block of the Northwest Freeway.

Authorities said Garcia was standing outside and was loading a disabled vehicle onto his white 2013 Isuzu NRR flatbed wreck, which was stopped on the highway’s right lane.

Elieser Alonso and his passenger, Darian Leiva, were traveling on the eastbound right lane in a white 2019 Dodge Promaster. Alonso made a faulty eviction when he steered into the left lane to avoid hitting Garcia’s tow truck. He went onto the left lane and the left front quarter of the Promaster hit the right back quarter of a 2015 Odom Utility Trailer, which was being towed by Joseph Ramirez.

Alonso then failed to pass to the left lane safely, hit the back of Garcia’s tow truck, continued, and hit Garcia.

Garcia was taken to Memorial Hermann Greater Heights Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

Ramirez and Alonso remained at the scene and did not show signs of impairment.

The authorities are investigating the crash.
