Sonny Reynolds Killed in 4-Vehicle Fiery Head-On Collision on FM 1061 in Potter County

Sonny Reynolds ID’d as Driver Killed in Potter County Crash on FM 1061 near Valle de Oro

Potter County, Texas (August 12, 2022) – Authorities have identified the driver who was killed in a four-vehicle fiery head-on collision Thursday morning in Potter County.

Sonny Reynolds, 51, of Panama City, Florida, died in the crash that happened at about 9:40 a.m. Thursday, August 11, on Farm-to-Market Road 1061 near Valle de Oro.

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, a truck tractor towing a semi-trailer was traveling southbound on FM 1061 when, for unknown reasons, the truck tractor drifted into the northbound lane, where it collided head-on with an oncoming U-Haul box truck hauling a passenger car on a dolly trailer driven by Reynolds.

A pickup truck, driven by Crystal Taylor-Williams, 51, of Panama City, Florida, was traveling northbound and rear-ended the U-Haul. As a result of the crash, the truck tractor, U-Haul and pickup truck caught fire.

Reynolds was pronounced dead at the scene.

Trevino and Taylor-Williams sustained major injuries in the crash. Trevino was airlifted to Northwest Texas Hospital in Amarillo while Taylor-Williams was taken by land ambulance to the same hospital.

Authorities temporarily blocked all lanes of FM 1061 as they investigated the crash.

No further details were provided.

The crash remains under investigation.
