Teenager Killed, Another Injured After Drunk Driver Crashes into Pharr Apartment on Veterans Boulevard; Jesus Cruz Arrested

 Pharr, Texas (June 29, 2021) – A teenager was killed and another was injured early Monday morning after a drunk driver crashed into an apartment in Pharr, according to the police.

The deadly accident was reported around 3:30 a.m., June 28, on North Veterans Boulevard near West Third Street.

Police said Jesus Cruz, 22, was driving a black Chevy Equinox at a high rate of speed when he crashed into an apartment and hit two teenagers, a 16-year-old and a 12-year-old.

Both teenagers were taken to the hospital where the 16-year-old later died. The 12-year-old had non-life-threatening injuries.

Cruz was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the accident. He will be charged with intoxication manslaughter and intoxication assault.

The crash remains under investigation.
