Tony Tran Killed in Multi-Vehicle Crash on I-10 in San Antonio

Tony Tran Killed in San Antonio Multi-Vehicle Crash on Interstate 10

San Antonio, Texas (July 6, 2023) – The 5-year-old boy who was killed Tuesday evening in a multi-vehicle crash in San Antonio has been identified as Tony Tran, according to the authorities.

The deadly crash occurred around 7:30 p.m., July 4, in the southbound lanes of Interstate 10 near West Avenue.

Authorities said a Nissan Rogue was traveling in the southbound lanes of the highway when the driver suddenly pressed the brakes. The Rogue was then rear-ended by a Hyundai Santa Fe. The Rogue was redirected to another lane and was hit on its passenger side by a Dodge Ram.

Tran, who was in the back seat of the Rogue, was ejected from the vehicle. He was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead. He was not in a child safety seat at the time of the crash.

The Rogue driver, 22-year-old Doan Khanh Thuc Mai, was charged with manslaughter.

No other details were provided.

The crash remains under investigation.
