Scurry County, Texas – The woman who died after being involved in a two-vehicle crash last Thursday in Scurry County has been identified as Victoria Ann Salinas, 22, of Snyder, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.

The fatal crash happened on March 21, at the intersection of US 84 and Ennis Creek Road.

DPS said Colton Shane Guynes’ 35, was driving westbound on Ennis Creek Road. Guynes entered the southbound lanes of US 84 and failed to yield the right of way to a vehicle that was traveling southbound on US 84 driven by Eric Morin, 31, of Snyder.

Morin’s vehicle struck Guynes’ vehicle, causing it to roll over.

Morin and Guynes were taken to University Medical Center in Lubbock with incapacitating injuries. A 13-year-old male passenger in Morin’s vehicle was taken to Cogdell Memorial Hospital where he was treated and released.

Salinas, who was a passenger in Guynes’ vehicle, was taken to the hospital where she was pronounced dead on Saturday.

Road conditions were dry at the time of the crash.

The DPS is investigating the crash.

Common Causes of Automobile Accidents

There are many different reasons why automobile, pedestrian, 18-wheeler, bicycle, and motorcycle accidents occur, including driver negligence, driver inattention, texting and driving, speeding, fatigue, failure to yield the right of way from a stop sign, or private drive, running a red light, and driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. While the factors listed above are the main causes of most accidents, there may also be other factors involved, which is why it’s important that an investigation be conducted before evidence disappears, especially in cases involving a fatality.  At Joel A. Gordon & Associates, we will act quickly to secure accident scene photos, interview witnesses, obtain police records, and secure other valuable evidence needed to win your case.  Call now for a free consultation.
