Woman Hit, Killed by 18-Wheeler on I-10 in Comfort

Comfort, Texas – A woman was fatally hit by an 18-wheeler early Monday morning in Comfort, according to the Texas Highway Patrol.

The deadly accident happened on April 29, on I-10 Eastbound near the 523/524 mile marker.

Texas Highway Patrol said there was a crash involving a pickup truck and an 18-wheeler, possibly due to foggy conditions and speed. After that crash, a woman stopped to help with traffic control in an effort to warn approaching motorists to slow down. An eastbound 18-wheeler veered off onto the center median in a try to avoid the previous crash and hit the woman. She was pronounced dead at the scene. Her name has not been released.

The crash remains under investigation.
