Woman Killed, Two Centerville Firefighters Airlifted after Interstate 45 Collision near Leona in Leon County
Leon County, Texas (June 7, 2022) – A woman was killed and two Centerville firefighters were injured in a traffic collision on an interstate in Leon County on Monday afternoon, according to a local news source.
The deadly crash took place on Interstate 45 near Leona on Monday, June 6.
As per the local news report, the firefighters from the Centerville Volunteer Fire Department were working to help victims of a minor crash on the interstate when a semi-truck crashed into them.
The semi-truck reportedly rolled on top of a car involved in the minor crash. The woman who was inside the car died in the crash. Her name has not been released pending notification of family.
Authorities said two members of the Centerville Volunteer Fire Department were airlifted to a hospital, one with major injuries.
A state trooper was treated at the scene for minor injuries.
No other details about the crash were provided.
The crash remains under investigation by the Texas Department of Public Safety.
