Yolanda Shelby Killed in Austin Two-Vehicle Crash at Crystalbrook Drive and Loyola Lane; Jarai Brady Arrested

Austin, Texas (October 4, 2022) – According to the police, a man has been arrested in connection to the hit-and-run accident that left one person dead last month in east Austin.

20-year-old Jarai Brady was arrested on Thursday, September 29.

The fatal crash happened just before 8:00 p.m., September 27, at the intersection of Crystalbrook Drive and Loyola Lane.

Police said Brady was driving westbound on Loyola Lane when he ran the red light at the intersection and hit a vehicle that was traveling southbound on Crystalbrook Drive and was turning eastbound onto Loyola Lane.

Brady fled the scene after the crash but was later found and arrested. He has been charged with failure to stop and render aid in an accident involving a death—a second-degree felony. His bond was set at $100,000.

The driver of the other vehicle, Yolanda Shelby, was taken to a local hospital where she later died.
