1 Injured in 3-Vehicle Crash on North Texas Boulevard in Weslaco
One Injured in Weslaco Crash on North Texas Boulevard; Lorenzo Abrego Arrested
Weslaco, Texas (October 30, 2022) – One person was injured and two other people were arrested after an early Saturday morning car crash in Weslaco, Weslaco police said.
The 2:27 a.m. collision happened in the 1000 block of North Texas Boulevard.
According to the Weslaco Police Department, Lorenzo Isidro Abrego, 23, was driving a 2012 White Chevrolet Silverado southbound in the northbound lanes of North Texas Boulevard when the Silverado collided head-on with a 2017 Silver Kia Rio.
The Kia Rio then overturned and collided with a third vehicle.
The occupant of the Kia Rio was trapped in the vehicle and had to be extricated. The patient was taken to a hospital in an unknown condition.
Abrego was charged with intoxication assault with a vehicle, an accident involving serious bodily injury and accident involving damage to the vehicle. His bail was set at $95,000.
Abrego’s passenger, Raquel Tovar Chavez, 23, was also arrested. His bail was set at $10,000 bond for resisting arrest.
No additional information about the accident was provided.
An investigation into the accident is ongoing.
