One Killed and One Critically Injured in Houston Two-Vehicle Crash on Southwest Freeway

Houston, Texas (June 22, 2021) – One person was killed and another was critically injured Saturday morning in an alleged street racing crash in Houston, according to the police.

The fatal crash happened around 11:20 a.m., June 19, on the Southwest Freeway (U.S. 59) near Hilcroft Avenue.

Police said a 20-year-old woman was driving a black Kia Stinger and was racing with a silver Dodge Challenger driven by a 19-year-old man.

The Kia went out of its lane during the race and crashed into the Challenger and then hit a concrete barrier.

The Kia driver and her passenger were ejected during the crash.

The Kia driver was taken to Ben Taub Hospital in critical condition. The passenger was pronounced dead at the scene. Her name has not been released.

The Kia driver has been charged with racing causing death.

The Challenger driver left the scene but he eventually returned to the scene with family members. He has been charged with failure to stop and render aid as well as racing causing death. He was uninjured in the crash.

The police are investigating the crash.
