One Killed and One Injured in Houston Motorcycle Crash on North Freeway near West Mount Houston Road

Houston, Texas (April 29, 2021) – According to the police, a man was killed, and another was injured Saturday afternoon in a motorcycle crash in Houston.

The deadly accident occurred around 1:45 p.m., April 24, in the 9103 block of North Freeway (North Interstate Highway 45) service road.

Police said a black Ford F-250 pickup truck was traveling northbound on the freeway and took the West Mount Houston Road exit while a Honda motorcycle and a Suzuki motorcycle were traveling northbound on the freeway service road.

The Ford made a sharp right turn, an unsafe lane change, to pull into a business parking lot and was hit on the front by the Honda motorcycle and hit on the back right side by the Suzuki motorcycle.

The Honda rider, a 22-year-old man, was pronounced dead at the scene. His name has not been released.

The Suzuki rider, a 21-year-old man, was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.

Officers said speed might have been a factor in the crash.

The Ford driver remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators. He was not impaired at the time of the accident.

The police are investigating the crash.

Most motorcycle crashes are caused by negligent drivers who don’t keep a proper lookout or fail to yield the right-of-way. Because motorcyclists are vulnerable, their injuries are usually severe, often suffering from road rash, broken bones, brain injuries, amputations, or spinal cord injuries. In some cases, the accident results in death.
