One Killed, Two Injured in Houston Two-Vehicle Crash on Homestead Road; Leon Ledet Arrested

Houston, Texas (August 10, 2022) – One person was killed, and two others were injured in a hit-and-run crash that happened on Sunday in Houston, according to the authorities.

The crash happened around 11:00 p.m., July 7, in the 10700 block of Homestead Road at the intersection of Little York.

Authorities said Leon Ledet Jr., 53, was driving a white Volkswagen Tiguan northbound and approaching the red light at the intersection when he crashed into a black Nissan Juke and brown Kia Sportage, which were both stopped at the red light.

The Nissan driver was taken to Ben Taub Hospital in critical condition, where he was pronounced dead on Tuesday, August 9.

The driver and the passenger of the Kia were taken to a local hospital in stable condition.

Ledet exited his vehicle after the crash and fled the scene on foot. Witnesses led officers to Ledet’s location, where he was arrested and has been charged with intoxication assault.

The police are investigating the crash.
