15-Year-Old Cyclist Injured in Hit-and-Run on Willow Street in South Laredo; Stephanie Vara Arrested

Laredo, Texas – A 15-year-old cyclist was injured Sunday afternoon in a hit-and-run accident in South Laredo, according to the Laredo Police Department.

The accident occurred around 2:00 p.m., April 21, in the 1200 block of Willow Street.

Authorities said Stephanie Vara, 23, was driving a 2018 Chevy when she struck the 15-year-old girl who was riding her bicycle.

The girl was taken to LMC in critical but stable condition.

Vara fled the scene but was arrested on Monday, April 22, around 12:49 p.m. She has been charged with accident involving injuries.

The authorities are investigating the crash.
