Two Injured in San Antonio Car Crash on Frio Street at Martin Street

San Antonio, Texas (April 3, 2022) – Two people were injured Friday night in a DWI crash in San Antonio, according to the police.

The crash happened around 10:21 p.m., April 1, on N. Frio Street and N Medina Street.

Police said a man was driving a 2009 maroon Toyota Camry northbound on S. Frio when he crashed into a southbound police vehicle.

The Camry driver fled the scene heading northbound on S. Frio Street at a high rate of speed. He was seen by a UTSA police Sargent, and he drove around the southbound lanes to get around the traffic in the northbound lanes. He ran a stop sign at the intersection of W. Commerce Street and continued heading northbound at a high rate of speed.

The suspect also drove through the intersection of W. Martin Street, where he lost control of the car and ended up on the sidewalk. His Camry also crashed into a metal light pole, rotated in the road, lost a tire, and crashed into a second metal light pole. The Camry then flipped into its roof.

A female passenger in the Camry was ejected from the vehicle and was taken to University Hospital in stable condition.

A second passenger was taken to Brooke Army Medical Center in critical condition.

The Camry driver was found to be intoxicated and was booked into the Bexar County Jail for intoxication assault.

The police are investigating the crash.

Common Causes of Automobile Accidents

There are many different reasons why automobile, 18-wheeler, and motorcycle accidents occur, including driver negligence, driver inattention, texting and driving, speeding, fatigue, failure to yield the right of way from a stop sign or private drive, running a red light, and driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. While the factors listed above are the main causes of most accidents, there may also be other factors involved, which is why it’s important that an investigation be conducted before evidence disappears, especially in cases involving a fatality.  At Joel A. Gordon & Associates, we will act quickly to secure accident scene photos, interview witnesses, obtain police records, and secure other valuable evidence needed to win your case.  Call now for a free consultation.
