Two Injured in West Laredo Pedestrian Accident near Jefferson and Santa Cleotilde Avenue; Mauricio Contreras Arrested

Laredo, Texas – Two people were injured Monday morning in a pedestrian accident in west Laredo, according to the police.

The accident was reported around 3:30 a.m., near Jefferson and Santa Cleotilde Avenue.

Police said Mauricio Contreras, 27, allegedly got into a fight and attempted to leave the scene in a gray Ford Taurus, and in the process, he struck two people.

One of those people, a 32-year-old man, was taken to LMC with ankle pain and pain on the left side of his body. He was listed in stable condition. 

The second person, a 33-year-old man, was taken to Doctors Hospital with pain in his left leg.

A third person who was involved in the fight did not require hospitalization.

Contreras was served with a US Marshals warrant and charged with failure to identify.

The police are investigating the crash.
