Corpus Christi, Texas (November 24, 2023) – Two people were killed and another was critically injured Wednesday night in a two-vehicle crash between Calallen and Orange Grove, according to the Texas Highway Patrol.

The fatal crash happened around 10:57 p.m., November 22, at the intersection of FM 624 and FM 70.

Authorities said an 18-year-old driver and 19-year-old passenger in a 2019 Ford Expedition were approaching the intersection when they failed to stop at a stop sign and hit a crane truck driven by a 48-year-old man.

The Ford was engulfed in flames after the collision.

The 19-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene. The 18-year-old was taken to CHRISTUS Spohn Hospital-Shoreline in critical condition.

The driver of the crane was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The Texas Department of Public Safety is investigating the crash.

Common Causes of Automobile Accidents

There are many different reasons why automobile, pedestrian, 18-wheeler, bicycle, and motorcycle accidents occur, including driver negligence, driver inattention, texting and driving, speeding, fatigue, failure to yield the right of way from a stop sign, or private drive, running a red light, and driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. While the factors listed above are the main causes of most accidents, there may also be other factors involved, which is why it’s important that an investigation be conducted before evidence disappears, especially in cases involving a fatality.  At Joel A. Gordon & Associates, we will act quickly to secure accident scene photos, interview witnesses, obtain police records, and secure other valuable evidence needed to win your case.  Call now for a free consultation.
