2 Killed after Car Hits Train at South Velasco and Kiber Streets in Angleton

Man, Woman Killed in Angleton Train Accident at South Velasco Street and Kiber Street

Angleton, Texas (January 18, 2023) – A man and woman were killed after their car slammed into a train in Angleton on Friday night, according to the Angleton Police Department.

The deadly crash occurred shortly before 10:00 p.m. Friday, January 13, in the area of South Velasco and Kiber streets.

Police said a brown Kia four-door passenger car was traveling northbound when it crashed into the side of a Union Pacific train that was heading eastbound.

The train had cleared 50 rail cars through the rail crossing before the accident occurred. The car had front-end damage.

Two occupants in the Kia, a 59-year-old woman and a 52-year-old man, were pronounced dead at the scene.

Further details regarding the collision were immediately provided.

The crash remains under investigation.
