2 Killed in Wrong-Way Crash on Loop 410 in San Antonio

Two Killed in San Antonio Car Crash on Loop 410 at Roosevelt Road

San Antonio, Texas (December 24, 2020) – Two people were killed early Thursday morning in a wrong-way crash in San Antonio’s South Side, according to police.

The deadly crash happened around 2:45 a.m., in the eastbound main lanes of Loop 410 at Roosevelt Road.

Police said a vehicle was traveling the wrong way when a silver compact car swerved to miss it and rear-ended an 18-wheeler. The compact car became wedged under the 18-wheeler, and the driver was pronounced dead at the scene. His name has not been released.

The wrong-way driver continued traveling westbound in the eastbound lanes and crashed into another vehicle, killing the driver. The victim’s identity has not been released.

The force of the impact caused the wrong-way car to roll over. The driver and his female passenger were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The driver is expected to face criminal charges.

The crash closed the eastbound lanes of Loop 410, and traffic was diverted onto the access road.

The crash remains under investigation.
