2 Seriously Injured in DUI Crash at W Florida Avenue and S Big Spring Street in Midland

Two People Seriously Injured in Midland Crash at W Florida Avenue and S Big Spring Street; Bianca Machuca Arrested

Midland, Texas (August 19, 2022) – Two people were seriously injured and one person was arrested following an alleged DUI crash early Wednesday morning in Midland, according to a local news source.

The crash happened at about 1:24 a.m. Wednesday, August 17, at the intersection of W Florida Avenue and S Big Spring Street.

Authorities said Bianca Marie Machuca, 29, was driving a black Jeep Wrangler when she allegedly ran a red light at the intersection and collided with a blue Jeep Wrangler that was heading westbound on Florida Avenue.

The driver and passenger of the blue Jeep sustained serious injuries in the crash. One patient was taken to a Lubbock hospital with a fractured shoulder, eight broken ribs, cuts to his head and chest, and a fractured pelvis.

The second patient, only identified as a woman, was ejected from the vehicle and sustained a brain bleed, a fractured skull, a broken clavicle, fractured ribs, and road rash. She was taken to ICU for treatment.

Machuca declined medical aid but was transported to the hospital. She was later arrested and booked at the Midland Detention Center. Her bail was set at $20,000.

No further details were provided.

The crash remains under investigation.
