2-Year-Old Boy Killed in Crash with 18-Wheeler on US Highway 77 in Kleberg County

Child Dies in Kleberg County Big Rig Crash on US Highway 77

Kleberg County, Texas (May 29, 2019) – A child was killed in a crash involving a big rig on Tuesday afternoon in Kleberg County, according to the DPS.
The collision occurred at about 4 p.m. Tuesday, May 28, on U.S. Highway 77 near SH 285.
According to the report, a Chevy Suburban was heading north on Highway 77 when, for unknown reasons, it drifted into the southbound lanes and collided with an oncoming semi-trailer.
The toddler, who was riding in the Chevy, was pronounced dead at the scene.
A second child in the car was extricated with serious injuries and transported to Driscoll Children’s Hospital in Corpus Christi. The male driver of the car was also extricated and transported to Christus Spohn Hospital Shoreline with serious injuries.
An adult female passenger in the car and a third child were transported to Christus Spohn Hospital Kleberg in Kingsville. The driver of the semi was also taken to the hospital for treatment.
The cause of the crash is under investigation.
