3 Including DPS Trooper Injured in Crash on I-10 in Cibolo

DPS Trooper Among Three Injured in Cibolo Car Crash on Interstate 10

Cibolo, Texas (January 12, 2020) – Three people, including a DPS trooper, were injured in a traffic accident Saturday afternoon in Cibolo, according to the authorities.

The crash happened around 1:00 p.m. January 11, in the 8700 block of Interstate 10 W.

Police said officers and a DPS trooper were assisting in a wreck, and the trooper was inside the vehicle, which was parked in the inside shoulder lane to slow traffic, with its emergency lights on.

A 54-year-old man, who was approaching the scene on the outside lane, swerved into the shoulder lane to avoid hitting a stopped car and struck the trooper’s car.

The man exited his car after the crash and collapsed. He was taken to the hospital in critical condition. His passenger was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

The trooper was taken to the hospital with minor lacerations.

Charges are pending an investigation.

An investigation into the crash is underway.
