35-Year-Old Man Hit, Killed by HPD Vehicle on I-10 East Freeway in Houston

35-Year-Old Man Killed in Houston Pedestrian Accident on Interstate 10 East Freeway near Wayside Drive

Houston, Texas (December 31, 2022) – A 35-year-old man was fatally hit by a Houston police officer early Friday morning in Houston, according to the authorities.

The deadly accident happened around 2:00 a.m., December 30, on the Interstate 10 East Freeway near Wayside Drive.

Authorities said an officer, who was on duty, was headed to a non-emergency call on the westbound lanes of the freeway when he struck the man who was walking on the freeway.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene. His name has not been released.

The officer who hit the pedestrian is a sergeant in the northeast patrol division and has been with the department for 30 years.

No additional information was available.

The police are investigating the crash.
