45-Year-Old Man Killed in Pedestrian Crash on Westheimer Road in Galleria

Galleria, Texas – A 45-year-old man was killed Wednesday morning in a pedestrian accident in the Galleria area, according to the police.

The deadly accident happened around 7:30 a.m., March 27, at the intersection of Westheimer Road and Sage Road.

Police said the man entered the crosswalk at the corner of the intersection and was struck by an eastbound white Volkswagen Jetta.

The impact threw the man into a second vehicle that was stopped at the intersection and was waiting to make a turn.

The man was taken to the hospital in critical condition where he was pronounced dead. His name has not been released.

The driver of the Jetta left the scene and traveled down the street to turn around, but then returned to the scene and identified themselves to the police as the involved driver. They were questioned and eventually released.

Police said the driver had a yellow light and the man who was hit didn’t have the right of way.

The crash closed the intersection and motorists were urged to seek alternate routes.

The HPD’s Vehicular Crimes Division is investigating the crash.
