56-Year-Old Man Killed in San Antonio Pedestrian Accident on Interstate 10

San Antonio, Texas (July 19, 2023) – According to the police, a man was killed Tuesday afternoon after being struck by a vehicle in San Antonio.

The deadly accident happened just before 2:00 p.m., July 18, on Interstate 10 near the on-ramp at Liberty Road.

Police said a wrecker had stopped on the right shoulder to pick up a load, and a 56-year-old man was standing on the shoulder attempting to direct traffic. The driver of a pickup truck did not see the man, hit him, and then veered into the wall.

The man was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead. His name has not been released.

The driver stayed at the scene, and officers were not sure if he was using his phone, but it seemed that he was not paying attention at the time of the crash.

The police are investigating the crash.

Common Causes of Automobile Accidents

There are many different reasons why automobile, pedestrian, 18-wheeler, bicycle, and motorcycle accidents occur, including driver negligence, driver inattention, texting and driving, speeding, fatigue, failure to yield the right of way from a stop sign, or private drive, running a red light, and driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. While the factors listed above are the main causes of most accidents, there may also be other factors involved, which is why it’s important that an investigation be conducted before evidence disappears, especially in cases involving a fatality.  At Joel A. Gordon & Associates, we will act quickly to secure accident scene photos, interview witnesses, obtain police records, and secure other valuable evidence needed to win your case.  Call now for a free consultation.
