6 Injured in Multi-Vehicle Accident on Interstate 10 in Orange County

Six Prisoners Hospitalized after Orange County Crash on Interstate 10
Orange County, Texas (April 5, 2019) – Six prisoners were injured Thursday morning in a multi-car accident in Orange County, according to a Texas Department of Public Safety report.
The wreck was reported at around 11:30 a.m. Thursday, April 4 on Interstate 10 near mile marker 859.
As per the DPS report, Albert Rutledge Jr., 50,  of Vidor, was driving a 2018 Dodge pickup truck eastbound on Interstate 10 at an unsafe speed for the weather conditions when he lost control and hit a prisoner transport van driven by Serina Watts, 37, of Tennessee.
The force of the impact caused the Dodge to crashed into the inside concrete barrier and was then hit by a commercial motor vehicle.
Six prisoners were taken to a nearby hospital in unknown condition. Rutledge, Watts and the 18-wheeler driver were not injured in the crash.
The crash caused the closure of all eastbound traffic lanes of Interstate 10 for about an hour. The roads were later reopened.
The crash remains under investigation.
