7-Year-Old, 9-Year-Old Killed in 18-Wheeler Crash on I-30 in Sulphur Springs

Two Children Killed in Sulphur Springs 18-Wheeler Crash on Interstate 30

Sulphur Springs, Texas (May 25, 2020) – Two children were killed early Sunday morning in an 18-wheeler crash in Sulphur Springs, according to police.

The fatal crash happened around 5:00 a.m. May 24, on Interstate 30 at the 124-mile marker exit eastbound, in the area of Jack in the Box.

Police said an 18-wheeler and an SUV were heading eastbound on the interstate when the 18-wheeler rear-ended the SUV.

The impact caused the SUV to catch fire and the 18-wheeler to roll over onto its side.

Two children in the SUV, a 7-year-old and a 9-year-old, were killed in the crash.

One other person in the SUV was taken to the hospital for treatment. Two others had minor injuries.

The driver of the 18-wheeler also sustained minor injuries in the crash.

The crash remains under investigation. Anyone who witnessed the crash or might have any information regarding the crash is asked by police to contact SSPD Corporal Terry Miller at the police station at 903-885-7602.
