8-Year-Old Killed, Daisy Pineda and Steven Joseph Worl Injured in Smith County Two-Vehicle Crash on Toll 49 near Hwy-64W
Smith County, Texas (June 23, 2020) – An 8-year-old girl was killed, and three other people were injured Monday morning in a two-vehicle crash in Smith County, according to DPS.
The fatal crash happened around 8:29 a.m. June 22, on Toll 49, south of Hwy-64W.
DPS said Daisy Pineda, 28, of Lindale, was driving a 2018 Mazda CX5 southbound at an unsafe speed, when she lost control, drifted into the northbound side and crashed into a Dodge 2500 pick-up towing a trailer driven by Steven Joseph Worl, 69, of Whitehouse.
Pineda was taken to Christus Trinity Mother Francis Hospital – Tyler in critical condition. A 2-year-old girl in the Mazda was also taken to Christus Trinity Mother Francis Hospital – Tyler in serious condition. Worl was taken to UT-Health – Tyler in stable condition.
An 8-year-old girl was pronounced at the scene.
The crash remains under investigation.
