Two Injured in Clovis Motorcycle Accident on Mabry Drive near Ash Street; Gabriel Velasquez Wanted

Clovis, Texas (April 15, 2021) – Two people were seriously injured last week Wednesday in a hit-and-run motorcycle crash in Clovis, according to police.

The crash was reported around 8:39 p.m., April 7, on Mabry Drive near Ash Street.

Officials said a Buick car struck a motorcycle and then fled the scene.

One person in the motorcycle sustained a massive injury to the right leg below the knee, and another person sustained an injury to the right leg at the ankle. Both victims were hospitalized with life-threatening injuries.

On April 11, a Clovis Police Officer encountered a silver Buick and stopped it. The vehicle had damage similar to having been involved in a motorcycle crash. The officer interviewed the Buick driver, 39-year-old Gabriel Velasquez.

An arrest warrant has been released for Velasquez for charges of Accidents Involving Death or Personal Injury, which is a 3rd-degree felony.

The authorities are still looking for Velasquez.

The police are investigating the crash.

Most motorcycle crashes are caused by negligent drivers who don’t keep a proper lookout or fail to yield the right-of-way. Because motorcyclists are vulnerable, their injuries are usually severe, often suffering from road rash, broken bones, brain injuries, amputations, or spinal cord injuries.
