1 Killed in Rear-End Crash on I-35 in North Austin

One Killed in North Austin Two-Vehicle Crash on Interstate 35 near Howard Lane

Austin, Texas (June 24, 2022) – One person was killed early Friday morning in a rear-end crash in North Austin, according to the authorities.

The fatal crash happened around 2:57 a.m., in the 14700 block of North Interstate Highway 35 across the street from Howard Lane.

Authorities said a red car rear-ended a semi-truck on the interstate and became trapped inside the truck.

The driver of the red car became unconscious and was taken to St. David’s Round Rock Medical Center, where they were pronounced dead. The victim’s identity has not been released.

All northbound lanes of I-35 at Well Branch Parkway were closed for several hours and were reopened just before 9:00 a.m.

The crash remains under investigation.
