Dwain Ed Kuhler Killed and Zackary Lynn Springer Seriously Injured in Lubbock County Two-Vehicle Crash on U.S. Highway 84 and CR 1700

Lubbock County, Texas (January 21, 2020) – One person was killed, and another was seriously injured Wednesday morning in a traffic accident involving a motorcycle in northwest Lubbock County, according to the DPS.

The crash was reported at about 8:35 a.m. January 15, at the intersection of U.S. Highway 84 and County Road 1700.

DPS said Dwain Ed Kuhler, 80, was stopped in his 2007 Chevrolet pickup on CR 1700, facing northbound at the intersection. He failed to yield the right of way to Zackary Lynn Springer, 32, of Shallowater, who was riding a 1985 Harley Davidson Motorcycle eastbound on U.S. 84, resulting in a collision.

Kuhler was pronounced dead at the scene.

Springer was taken to University Medical Center with serious injuries.

The crash remains under investigation.
